Make a Life-Changing Choice

Adopt Today!

When you decide to adopt, you’re not just bringing a furry friend into your home; you’re opening up space in our sanctuary for another animal in need. Whether you’re ready to adopt or foster, every action counts.

The bond that forms through adoption is truly special and unforgettable.

Encourage your loved ones to consider adoption too. Let’s unite in the mission of giving displaced dogs in Guatemala the love and care they deserve. Together, we can change lives and spread joy.

The Adoption Process

Thinking about welcoming a dog into your family? Here’s what you need to consider:

N

Ensure that everyone in the household is fully on board with having and committing to taking care of a dog.

N

Understand that owning a dog is a long-term commitment, spanning 10 to 17 years of their life.

N

Determine what type of dog would fit best in your home: active or calm, affectionate or independent, etc.

N
Consider factors such as exercise needs, budget for care, sleeping arrangements, and caregiving responsibilities.
N

Remember, dogs are not toys or tools for children or to manage land or buildings.

N

We know our dogs’ personalities inside out and can help match you with the perfect fit for your home.

Adoption & Fostering Requirements

Our dogs are sterilized, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. Please note that if the dog doesn’t acclimate to your home during a trial period, they can be returned.

  • Respond to a brief interview to better understand your home environment, helping us suggest suitable dogs.
  • Meet the dog in person at our location in Santa Cruz La Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala. A doggie sleep-over can be arranged on-site at our beautiful lake-front Casa Serenidad AirBnB.
  • Allow us to visit your home to ensure it’s suitable for the dog and that everyone agrees to the adoption or fostering arrangement or allow us to see it via video if too far to visit.
  • Sign the adoption or fostering contract and provide a copy of your identification (Passport or DPI).
  • Offer a contribution of Q350 to help cover the cost of neutering (Q450 for large breeds).
